2020 Conference Chair Message To Be Announced
I would like to thank the CAPL Board for providing the opportunity to Chair the 2019 CAPL Conference in Calgary. I am honored to be part of this process and to support executing another great Conference for our Association, industry partners and delegates, while promoting the oil and gas industry within our own city.
Our vision for the 2019 CAPL Conference is to empower land professionals to be the leaders of our business, to promote and fight for the industry we believe in. In light of the continued struggles in our industry, the 2019 Conference Committee wants to provide a conference for our members and industry partners to “Ignite the Conversation” - amongst our teams, amongst our peers, amongst our city and amongst our country.
The 2019 Conference will kick-off on Tuesday, September 17, 2019, and delegates will have the option to attend education seminars, activities or both. There will be four half day educational seminars to choose from – in order to provide more in-depth discussions on important topics to land professionals. Activities will also be hosted throughout the day and will include educational components while allowing delegates to network. The 2019 Conference will officially launch with the Welcoming Reception at SubRosa Lounge on Tuesday Night for a night of networking, food and drinks.
The main conference will be held at our host venue, Telus Spark. We felt this was the perfect venue for a conference in Calgary, as it is the self-described center where “innovation occurs at intersections…; and where technology, self-expression and creativity is sparked…pushing us to explore complicated challenges.” The 2019 Program Committee has been hard at work to provide Keynotes and Breakout Sessions that live up to the concept of Telus Spark. We have made a few changes to the overall format of this year’s conference to provide delegates the opportunity to attend more breakout sessions and not miss out on any topics of interest. Delegates will be able to choose two condensed breakout sessions, from three options during each time slot on Wednesday and Thursday morning. The Conference will also host the first ever “CAPL Talks” in the afternoons – short, engaging presentations focused on ensuring land professionals walk away with an expanded toolbox, to tackle the challenges of today and future business. The 2019 Conference will conclude with the Conference Wind-Up held on Thursday night. The Activities Committee is still working on the perfect venue, but it is sure to impress for a final night of great friends, entertainment and cocktails.
All of this wouldn’t be possible without the endless hours, ideas and efforts by our dedicated committee members and office staff, so I would like to thank all of our volunteers for the 2019 CAPL Conference. I am proud of the Conference we are executing and can’t wait to bring our vision to fruition with you all in September 2019. Stay tuned to the website for more information, and we look forward to your continued support of the CAPL Conference, our association and most importantly our industry.
