Landscape Management Plan (LMP) for the Lower Athabasca Region Workshops
Workshop Agenda
Landscape Management Plan – Overview
The Government of Alberta is committed to implementing the 2012 cabinet approved Lower Athabasca Regional Plan. As part of the plan’s ongoing implementation, Environment and Parks has been developing a regional Landscape Management Plan (LMP) – a land use plan with strategies and guidelines for reducing the extent and duration of human footprint in support of the objectives identified through the Biodiversity Management Framework, the Lower Athabasca Regional Plan and other relevant policy and planning initiatives.
The Landscape Management Plan will be developed in partnership with Albertans to ensure we understand the needs of land users, to share knowledge, and to inform decision-making. Since early 2014, stakeholders, First Nations and Métis people have been meeting with government, sharing well-informed and valuable thoughts and ideas to help develop the Landscape Management Plan. We now invite (attached) you to continue the conversation through a series of full-day workshops to discuss content and get your input that will help form the Landscape Management Plan.
Sessions will be hosted by staff from Environment and Parks in the following locations:
Location | Time 9:00 am to 3:00 pm |
Edmonton | October 29, 2015 |
Fort McMurray | November 3, 2015 |
Calgary | November 6, 2015 |

We welcome your attendance at any one of these optional workshops, however as space is limited we ask that you confirm your participation and preferred location by October 22, 2015. You can register by emailing ESRD.planning@gov.ab.ca. A workshop package, agenda and workshop location information will be sent to participants in advance of the sessions.
