We Want to Hear From You!

The Species at Risk Act recognizes the need for consultation with those who may be affected by or interested in the conservation of species at risk. Environment Canada would like to hear from you because your organization and its members have been identified as having expertise or interest in species at risk conservation and recovery.

We are looking for your help to ensure the survival and recovery of Red Knot, a shorebird at risk. Environment Canada has drafted a recovery strategy and management plan to help guide the actions we can take together to stop or reverse the decline of this species. A recovery strategy describes what a species needs to live and the ways in which we can reduce the threats to its survival. A management plan identifies conservation measures needed to prevent a species of special concern from becoming threatened or endangered. Please see the attached draft recovery document overview for this species. We would be happy to forward a full copy of the draft strategy and plan, if requested.

Your input is important to us and for the conservation of this species. As such, we are providing you with an opportunity to share your views on the draft recovery document before the proposed document is posted on the Species at Risk Public Registry (www.sararegistry.gc.ca) for a 60-day public comment period.

How to Provide Feedback

Comments may be submitted by mail or e-mail to the address below. There will be another opportunity to provide comments in the coming months when the proposed recovery document is posted on the Species at Risk Public Registry (www.sararegistry.gc.ca) for a 60-day public comment period.
